On Friday June 13, Monroe artist Alison Rector will be discussing her new paintings in a presentation at the Maine State Library. Beautiful in All Its Details: Library Art and Architecture will celebrate the beauty of Maine’s public library buildings. Earle Shettleworth, Maine State Historian, will introduce the program. Kirk F. Mohney, author and architectural historian, will present a history of libraries in Maine. Artist Alison Rector will show her new work Shared Quiet, a group of paintings of Maine public libraries.
The free presentation begins at 6 pm at the Maine State Library at 230 State Street in Augusta (in the Cultural building in the State House Complex). All are welcome; admission is free, sponsored by the Friends of the Maine State Library.
The lecture is a preview of Alison Rector’s newest body of art work Shared Quiet on exhibit at Courthouse Gallery Fine Art in Ellsworth June 25 to July 20, 2014.
